Warm temps mean more photos!

As I write this, I’m sitting in a small cafe, enjoying an overpriced bottle of water and an equally overpriced chocolate chip cookie. The sun is shining and the temperature is around 55°. The only thing stopping me from grabbing my kids and my digital camera and heading to the local playground is the fact that we got soaked over the weekend and yesterday with rain, so the ground is a muddy mess. But a day’s worth of warm temperatures and bright sunshine should be enough to dry things up, so tomorrow afternoon I’m going to pick my kids up from preschool and take them — and my other baby, my Nikon D40x — straight to the park.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t take a lot of photos during the winter months, aside from the standard holiday photos, and random photos of myself (I participate in an online photo project that requires you to take one self-portrait a day for an entire year) and my kids. But once springtime rolls around, my camera and I are practically inseparable, and will stay that way up until October or so. I love taking my camera with me whenever I go out, because I just never know when I might come across an amazing shot that I just HAVE to take. Of course, finding somewhere to safely park in a rural area, where the roads have little to no shoulder and the speed limits are generally 35mph – 55mph can be a pain and sometimes hazardous, but it’s worth it in order to get the perfect shot — like this one!
