Getting the best deals on digital cameras
Digital cameras can certainly be expensive, there’s no getting around that. But if you play your cards right and you’re smart about when and where you shop, you may find that there are some significant savings to be had.
First, keep in mind that stores usually cut the prices on digital cameras and digital camera accessories during the back-to-school shopping season (July – September), again at the holidays (November – December), and in the weeks leading up to Father’s Day (June). Check out local ads and online sales flyers during these times for the hopefully awesome sales that will be running.
Second, in addition to or instead of sales, look for rebates. Some stores offer rebates on digital cameras that may not necessarily be on sale, and you may even find that those rebates make those cameras a better deal than the ones that are on sale.
Always check to see if purchasing accessories for your new digital camera will offer you any kind of deal or discount. You may be able to earn some additional savings, or perhaps a free memory card, tripod, or even a pack of batteries (always handy to have with digital cameras, and external flashes in particular!).
Finally, shop online! With free shipping deals and exclusive offers, you may be able to get a high-rated, super exciting digital camera for less than you would spend in stores. Check out manufacturer websites like Kodak, HP and Sony, but also look at “big box” sites like Amazon and Buy.com, as they also often have great deals — particularly on kit items.
